Every Sunday morning we have a variety of options for children who are attending. We have programs for all ages starting at newborn all the way up to grade 8. Please see the descriptions for each age group below.
Nursery (ages 0-3)
Location: Small Building Nursery Room
The Nursery Room is located in the small building just steps away from where you sit during service (in the foyer, you’ll see a “Nursery” sign on the door). The room has been child-proofed for safety and toys are age-appropriate. The room has a separate section for walkers and crawlers, if needed, so infants are always safe. There is an evacuation crib in the room in case of a drill or emergency. Rocking chairs are provided for nursing mothers.
Your child may participate in service with the adults, or you may bring them to the Nursery Room where they will enjoy children’s bible stories, prayer, free play, and snack.
Drop-off & pick-up: You may drop-off and pick-up your child anytime during service. Supervision is from 10:15 am until the end of service
Snack: A peanut-free snack is provided (e.g., Cheerios and shredded apples). You may bring a drink for your child. Please inform volunteers of any allergies.
Diapering/potty: A change table and potty are located in the accessible washroom in the foyer. You may personally change your child there, or let us know if you are comfortable with our caregivers changing your little one (volunteers leave the washroom door ajar). Extra diapers and wipes are in the accessible washroom just in case.
If your child needs you during service: Each child and parent have a corresponding number. Your child’s number will flash on the screen in the sanctuary to let you know you are needed back in the nursery.
Volunteers/Ratio: At least 1 volunteer in the room has Level C First Aid/CPR training and all volunteers have a record check and “Plan to Protect” training (see bottom of this page for more details). There is always at least 1 adult volunteer per Sunday. Our volunteers include mothers, teachers, healthcare professionals, and youth. Volunteers are in the nursery once or twice per month. There is 1 volunteer for every 3 children.
Pre-School (ages 4-5)
Location: Large Building Pre-school Classroom
A fun program for children in Kindergarten. Songs, stories, snacks and craft time.
Parents sign in and out by entrance of small building (yellow binder).
Students may either be dropped off before the service, or they may leave at the same time as the older children are dismissed from the service. If you choose the latter option, someone will make sure they get to the right classroom. Children will be returned to the small building after service.
Kids Klub (grades 1-5 and grades 6-8)
Location: Large Building Classrooms
Two different classes are offered for the two age groups. They go to separate classrooms and have different programs prepared for them.
Parents need to sign children in and out by the entrance of the small building (yellow binder). Children are dismissed from the service after a few songs. Please listen for the worship director to dismiss them. Children will be returned at the end of the service.
Plan to Protect
Inniswood Baptist Church is working diligently to ensure a safe environment for all children placed in our care.
All volunteers working with children are required to complete the following steps:
- Submit a Police Record Check to be kept on file.
- Complete a Volunteer Application Form which includes reference screening.
- Must be familiar with our Policy and Procedures (“Plan to Protect”) and complete a yearly test of this material.
Your children are safe in our care!
